This trip combination between boating, trekking, jungle camping and staying with the Dayak tribe, the indigenouse people of Borneo. Your Borneo adventure begins from Pontianak to Putussibau a capital city of Kapuas Hulu District. In this expedition you will have the unique chance to do a jungle trekking in the heart of Borneo and explore the great nature and the traditional culture of the of Dayak in Borneo.
A first activity in this trip is boating then to be continued with jungle trekking and jungle camping. In the jungle you will get the great feeling of exploring a real primary rain forest in the “Heart of Borneo”. Animal calls will be heard during the whole expedition.

Cross Borneo is an extreme jungle expedition in the tropical rainforest of Borneo. This expedition is a jungle trekking that follows a historical expedition route of a Dutch botanist, DR. Anton W. Niewenhius in 1894 who crossed the jungle border of West and East Kalimantan (Borneo). This tour asks your spirit and brave to attack rapids with a traditional wooden boat, attack steep mountains. This also offers you to be a witness of Punan (Hunter and gatherer tribe of Dayak) and the unique of two famous river in Indonesia.

DAY 1:ARRIVAL IN PUTUSSIBAU
Arrival in Putussibau town, the capital city of Kapuas Hulu District-West Kalimantan. For client who uses airplan, the KOMPAKH ADVENTURE guide will pick you up at the airport. Proceed to the hotel. In the evening, pick up ang proceed to the local restaurant for welcome dinner and briefing. (D)DAY 2: PUTUSSIBAU – NANGA BUNGAN VILLAGE
After breakfast, our staf will pick you up at the hotel and about 5 minutes by car to boat station. From a boat station the adevnture trip starts by traditional wooden longboat cruising Kapuas River , the longest river in Indonesia to reach Nanga Bungan village. Along the way you will notice some longhouses, local fruit garden, rice field and rapids. To get Nanga Bungan about 6 hours, however at lunch time the boat will stop on a sandy-rocky beach for your lunch. In the Afternoon you will arrive in Na. Bungan, a village village of Dayak Punan. As your boat stop at the village boat station, your guide will try to get a place to stay. If there are no villagers in the village you may construct tent/s near by river bank. But if you find a house to stay, the house must be without any facilities. Concerning to menu, start from Putussibau you will only get Indonesian meal (rice, vegestable, fish or meet)DAY 3:NANGA BUNGAN VILLAGE – TANJUNG LOKANG VILLAGE
Today after brekafast a heavy river journey starts. Again in the traditional wooden longboat you will attack some big rapids and sometime you have to get out from the boat and walking through river bank or pulling your boat. To getTanjungLokangit needs about 2-6 hours, depend on water level. Here you can check into a very basic facilities local lodge. Here you will get your local forest guide from DayakPunan. As no way to communicate, if you are lucky you will get your forest guide directly, if not (some time no forest guide available as they usually in the jungle for hunting and gathering) you have to stay another night to wait. (Full boards)DAY 4: TANJUNG LOKANG – BOVO’ – NG.TARAN/BORAKAN
From this village,arround 8 o’clock in the morning if there are local driver/longboats you will cruise a narrow river of Bungan to get Bovo’ , the place to start a jungle trekking. While cruising you will pass some rapids, shallow river and also karst mountain in about 2 hours. If there are no drivers/boats, you have to do jungle trekking in about 4-6 hours plus some rest and lunchstop until you get a good place to construct your jungle camp. If you do not have your ouwn tent/hammock, you will share 1 or 2 big tent made from plastic tarp together with all team including your guide and porters. Then your guide/s and local porters will prepare a simple-local dinner for you by cooking with firewoods from the jungle. You shuld get dinner before getting dark as only 1-2 kerosine/candel availlable (Full boards)DAY 5: BORAKAN –LEA RIVER MOUTH
After breakfast and packking all things, your jungle trekking start agin today. Trekking here is never boring, there is always new development, estimating distance, location, progress the road to follow. On the trekking, the guide might introduce you to the skills of Dayak fishing and fire lighting sodden wood. The meals to be prepared but to day if you are lucky you can taste fresh fish from the river, the night site to decide on, same tent constructed (B,L,D).DAY 6: LEA RIVER MOUTH–BOA QIU/SAVANG RIVER
The trekking to be continue, while trekking you can feel the genuineness of Borneo’s rain forest, enjoy the clear water, and listen to the wild animal’s calls. Same jungle camp like day 3-5 will be constructed again (Full boards)DAY 7: SAVANG RIVER – PEANG LO’ONG(FOOT OF MULLER)
The trekking seemed to be heavier than before combination between dray and wet trekking.all activities will be same with what you did in day 3-6.DAY 8:FOOT OF MULLER (PEANG LO’ONG) – OPAN TANAH ATAS
Todayis heaviest hiking, attack the steep and slippery mountain of Muller to reach the border between West and East Kalimantan. This point is unique as all people who pass this area should leave their belonging to avoid attack of bad spirit. After lunch, the trekking continues to reach a point for jungle camp constructing like days before.(Full boards)DAY 9: OPAN TANAH ATAS – CUHUTING RIVER/BEKANA RIVER
The journey will be continued through the tropical rain forest, a dip in the river, a rest to be taken and surrounding to be examined an investigation of just a few square metres will reveal something different of animals every time.all trekking activities and duration are the same with what you have done day before in this trip (Full boards)DAY 10: CUHUTING/BEKANA RIVER –SAITE RIVER MOUTH
Jungle trekking to be continued to get a good place to construct a simple jungle tent. It seem to be easiest than before as you will follow path of the people. (Full boards)DAY 11: SAITE – MUARA SUNGAI HUVUNG–TIONG OHANG
Today is the last trekking activity, afterhour and hour you will reach Huvung River mouth. Here you wait your local longboat to take you to the village. Now time to head down the Mahakam River, the bigest river in Indonesia by traditional wooden longboat to find the villageof DayakAoheng. Enjoy your nature cruising in about 1 hours (depend on the boat and capacity).Check in to a basic facilities local house. As the longboat is delivered from the village, you have to wait and construct your jungle camp again. (B, L, D)DAY 12: TIONG OHANG – LONG BAGUN– TERING – BARONG
Breakfast at the local house/ local inn, then another 6-8 hours sail by longboat or speed boat to Long Bagun, change speed boat to continue at Tering; tering is a boat station arrive in Tering we will continue by using car to barong,Check in to a basic local Inn. After breakfast, by rental car we continue this trip to go to BalikPapan It will take about 10 hours.Lunch on the way. The rest of the day is free for your own activities (B, L, and D)DAY 14 : BALIK PAPAN – AIR PORT
